We are now looking for a Head of Design in our product team.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional design reviews for all design projects
  • Lead design sprints with various product teams from growth to subscription management to payments and everything in between
  • Work with product owners to ensure designers are meeting project requirements and deadlines
  • Conduct weekly 1-on-1’s with all product designers, managing their goals and performance
  • Hire new designers as needed, ensuring smooth and effective onboarding and making sure that the team feels cared for and has the tools they need to do their job effectively
  • Manage our design system and ensure the overall visual Grover style is maintained consistently
  • Work with the user research team to ensure all designs are user-tested before going into production
  • Regular critique of designers work with regular check-ins as needed
  • Meticulous quality control of front end development to ensure designs are being built according to design specs.
  • Partner with product teams throughout the design and development process, becoming familiar with different data collection techniques and making changes to the product based on data analysis
  • Share work early and often and seek out constructive feedback from the Head of product, stakeholders, teams and the product design team
  • Keep the vision and key objectives for the company always in mind, taking cues from product owners and engineering leads
  • Consistently consider how the design team’s vision can support the team's goals, the broader product vision, and company objectives
  • Craft intuitive, elegant, and shippable product experiences, leveraging Grover UX design standards and industry best practices
  • Produce designs using Figma (if you currently use Sketch, no problem)

Qualifications

  • Experience managing small to medium-sized design teams
  • Expert proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or other design and prototyping tools like Framer, InVision, or Principle
  • An online portfolio that demonstrates an unfailing advocacy for the user along with excellent visual and UX design skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in and understanding of information architecture, multi-step and cross-platform flows
  • Basic understanding of engineering and web technologies
  • Ability to manage a holistic user experience and potential states (errors, successes, dead-ends) in your work
  • The ability to clearly present work, and articulate the rationale for the decisions that led to it
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, whether in one-on-one or group situations
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas, goals, and problems in a way that is accessible even to those unfamiliar with the project. In design conversations, you'll keep discussions on-track and focused on delivering actionable next steps

Bonus points

  • Experience designing physical products
  • Experience with consumer brands, e-commerce, or B2B tools
  • Knowledge of German
  • Basic front end skills and the ability to prototype in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
